Nuna’s Crafts & General Store

You may not recognize the name, but Nuna’s Crafts & General Store in the Yukon Inn Plaza, Whitehorse, has been a locally-owned family business since 1998! Okay, up until recently we were the Great Canadian Dollar Store but decided it was time to be truly independent moving forward in our Yukon adventure. “Nuna” was my Italian grandmother and as I am now a Nuna, it seems to fit. Starting with a wee 800 sq. ft store front, moving to a 2500 sq ft and finally (15 years ago) to its current 10,000 sq ft location in the Yukon Inn Plaza, we have been helping our amazing Yukon customers through the decades by continuously adapting our products to serve community needs. We have watched families grow, been a part of their celebrations, both happy and sad. We have happily sponsored more events and teams than we can name. Our staff has played an integral part in helping to plan birthdays, luaus, weddings, graduations, and memorials. We have inflated hundreds of thousands of balloons and helped create as many unique Halloween costumes! I believe every Yukoner also owns a whoopie cushion---you’re welcome:) All of this was based on the initial idea I had of wanting a place where people could stop by, have some fun, and have their day brightened by the experience of shopping in my store. Moving from The Great Canadian Dollar Store brand to Nuna’s Crafts & General Store allows me more freedom to find quality products at the best possible prices as we proudly continue this family-owned and operated journey in the North. We are also preparing a transition to the next generation as my son provides the same exceptional service and experiences you have had for twenty-five years. I am proud of what my staff and family have achieved, and I am grateful to all my customers throughout the years who have helped make my business a household name. Don’t forget, new name, same locally-owned and operated business, always looking out for you!
